Olivier BecuOliver is a graduate of Polytech Nice-Sophia, France, where he received his MSc, specializing in the disciplines of Electronics, Computer science, Telecommunication & Remote Sensing. He worked seven years at Thales Alenia Space as System and network architect, managing projects leveraging on satellite telecommunications, development and trials of innovative satellite communication products, and system design for satellite/terrestrial broadband networks. He then moved to the European Space Agency (ESA) European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) where the joined the Integrated Applications Promotion (IAP) program team in 2007.

The IAP program is dedicated to development, implementation and pilot operations, of innovative applications that have potential to provide commercial services, utilising not only Telecommunications satellites, but also combining the use of different types of space assets, including Earth Observation and Navigation, as well as Human Spaceflight technologies.

In his role as project manager in the IAP program, Olivier also served on evaluation boards reviewing and evaluating proposals to the program as to whether they would receive grants. He managed a portfolio covering diverse domains, such as monitoring of pipelines, assessment of hydropower, precision agriculture, aviation, and crisis management across countries in Europe and Africa.
